( scott does laugh, though, to tony's credit. he laughs and smiles and his eyes crinkle, even though there're tears rolling down his cheeks. )
You're a dick, you know that?
( but he obviously doesn't mean it. )
[ IMG ATTACHMENT: there're several other pictures now--most of them of cassie, like how she served up the spaghetti in her little apron, how she lovingly filled everyone's plates, how she tried to fit seven cake pops in her mouth until maggie tried to stop her from choking (as seen in the way she goes closer to the camera in the background). then there're pictures of cassie on paxton's shoulders, cassie giving her mum spaghetti sauce kisses, cassie reading tony's note and then showing it.
the pictures of scott are all candid and a little blurred, all of them taken by an excited eight year old. he makes stupid faces in all of them, save for the pictures where he's looking at a mug and a balloon and a card and a sweater and looks like he's about to cry again. there's one of him on paxton and maggie's lawn after a failed cartwheel. there's one of him with a flower crown on his head. then one of him and paxton with a flower crown each (which is the shakiest photo because cassie laughed so much).
a miracle from maggie is the photo of scott on the sofa in their home later in the evening, his pretty princess of a girl on his lap and asleep with her cheek on his chest and his arm around her. she'd snapped it while scott wasn't looking--and, well. he kept it. ]

She's beautiful, isn't she?
