[Scott isn't the only one that looks absolutely smitten. The moment he says M'your baby the way that Tony's grin just brightens is impossible to hide. And sure, the remnants of the scotch in his system might have something to do with it, but right now he's just so happy that that's all he knows.
Is it normal to be this happy? Every time he's with him it feels like a dream to be this deliriously happy with him, and it's what makes him 'steal' another kiss after Scott tells him to get in the van.]
So bossy. [It's said teasingly, fondly, and he reaches over to get his bag from Scott before getting in the van. Which is as ridiculous as it always is. The van is full of personality, and as Tony buckles up he already feels happier just being here.
Don't you like me bossy? ( the engine starts up and of course the tape in it is some ridiculous luis-esque disco track, which scott could replace if he wants to (he still has some summer mixes from his youth spent recording from the top 10 tracks on all the old radio shows), but doesn't because it'd feel wrong. the wombat wagon, as hank so lovingly dubbed it after the three (plus one, including scott) admitted the van was under shared custody for all of them, does what the wombat wagon does.
apparently playing starship's nothing's gonna stop us now is an example of that.
while he doesn't change the tape, scott does turn the volume down. there're iron man stickers on the radio now, courtesy of cassie, so that every time you press something you have to poke his face. scott had found that particularly amusing, but he doesn't bring the new design up because he wants tony to notice it himself.
so he speaks instead. ) When in the world did you master pancakes, huh?
I do, actually. [ He even smiles over at him as he says it. That's why at first he misses the stickers, because he's too busy admiring how good looking Scott is. He can't really see his features all that well, because it's nighttime and light posts don't exactly provide the best lighting for the inside of a car, but it's still good just to know that he's there. ]
Oh, it... Like a week ago? Rhodey had a rough day in physical therapy, so I figured I'd make him breakfast to cheer him up. He wanted me to thank you for showing me how to properly cook pancakes all the way through.
[ He glances at the stereo then, and notices the stickers. Using his cell phone to shine a better light at them, initially confused at what's all over the buttons, Tony lets out an amused laugh before he grins over at Scott. ] Did you do this?
Oh, well. ( scott beams with pride, and to anyone who knows him that's a surefire sign that he's about to bring up-- ) Cassie did that, actually. ( maybe his voice gets the slightest bit higher pitched when he mentions her, but he's too happy to notice. ) Guess who her favourite Avenger is? And, no, it's not Ant-Man. Which makes me think I should fight you somehow.
Her logic was that we get to poke you every time we do something with the music, but ( tone softening, he glances at tony for a moment just to offer a sheepish smile ) I think that's just her roundabout way of saying she misses you as much as I do when you're gone. ( scott doesn't have to say it because he knows tony's aware of it--that he's family now, that he's an honorary lang, that he and cassie would fight for him in the same way they'd fight for each other, because langs are nothing if not painfully loyal. and it's this notion that has him removing one hand off the steering wheel just to trace the edge of a bearded jaw with his knuckle. )
[ Oh yeah, Tony knows exactly who's going to be brought up the moment that Scott's demeanor changes. He feels his smile growing, because seriously, watching Scott talk about his daughter is easily one of the most endearing things in the world. ] Oh. Well, I mean, Iron Man is pretty damn cool...
[ He's teasing, of course, although he is definitely flattered that he's Cassie's favorite Avenger. If anything, it makes him grin a little brighter. It's still wild to him that he has Scott and Cassie, that he's part of their family, that he has gotten so damn lucky but he doesn't question it anymore. He's too thankful for it, and his smile softens when Scott's knuckle moves along his jaw. ]
I've missed her, too. Can we go pick her up from school tomorrow? Er, today? [ He sets his hand on Scott's thigh - not necessarily to do anything naughty, but just because now that he's here he doesn't want to stop touching him. ] Maggie wouldn't mind, right?
SAME ;-;

She'll be happy to see you, too.
